Adoption Day

Right before we went on the mission trip we found our that an Aunt was interested in adopting the twins. When we were on the mission trip singing songs in English and Spanish the Lord so impressed upon my heart that HE is God. As we sang Blessed Be the Name of the Lord I was there weeping at the feet of the Lord saying Hallelujah! Hallelujah! I had to recognize that He is the Lord and the He gives and He takes away. That he could take them away and that if He did take them away....BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD! Learning to  recognize that he is the one worthy of praise and that I am just a vessel to be poured out like a drink offering in service to HIM! To continue to pray "His will be done" when you want to pray "Give me those kids" was a heart wrenching sanctify necessity because at the end of the day I must be able to stand and say and mean in my heart. "Yes He took them but... Blessed, Blessed, Blessed be the name of the Lord!" I must be willing to praise Him if he gives a blessing or if He takes it away. For me sanctification hasn't been pretty. But let me tell you I am so happy that he choose to give, that he choose to let me more deeply understand my own stance as an adopted child of Christ. Thus more greatly appreciating His love for me, his love for my children, for you!

BLESSED,BLESSED,BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!

Unless the LORD watches over the city, the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. the watchmen stand guard in vain Psalm 127:1-2

Adoption Update +

Well, its been a while since our last adoption update. We are 'paper pregnant' which means we have completed all the requirements and we are waiting for a placement. The waiting process has not been as difficult as I anticipated of course I am only a couple of weeks into it. The Lord has been so good to me I have not been focusing on the wait. Wayne reminds me that we will receive all of the children the Lord has for us.

This week we found out two little guys were available and we are having our home study submitted for them.  What this means is that there are two little people out there looking for adoptive parents. The case worker will chose 3 families and then they will meet and rank the families. This process takes several weeks and there are no guarantees!

Though I have left the timing in the Lords hands I apparently didn't give it all over to the Lord. Because even as I was typing the e-mail I was thinking "I want a baby". These two are little guys  but not babies. You know the old man works his ugly old self into even the beauty of adoption. Yet, still the Lord is good as Wayne and I are both reading Oswald Chambers "My Utmost for His Highest" and on the 12th the scripture was "Till we are come...unto the measure of stature of the fullness of Christ" Eph 4:5 The end of Mr Chambers devotional points out the following:"To fulfill God's design means entire abandonment to Him. Whenever I want things for myself, the relationship is distorted....'My goal is God Himself, not joy nor peace, Nor even blessing but Himself, my God.' " And I can add to it nor a baby.

Today, I stand (okay, lay in bed) committed to the race laid before me. I may not get to slip into boy raising, we may take off running with 3 kiddos below the age of 5! So there may be a change in my plans and I may be relying on the Lord for toddler beds, bigger boy clothes & toys. But you know His plans are higher and better then my plans! Please pray for us that we would keep focused on the unseen for it is eternal!

BTW...I am on vacation until Saturday and will rejoin the digital age Sunday or Monday.

Adoption Update

Blessed is the man

whose quiver is full of them.
They will not be put to shame
when they contend with their enemies in the gate
Psalm 127:5

Well, we have finally completed everything for our adoption. We completed our homestudy today and now we are waiting for our homestudy to be written. Then hopefully in about two-three weeks after our home study has been written and turned into our agency our home will be open for a baby/children. We are doing foster to adopt, we have asked for a boy, but we could receive a sibling set. So we could end up fostering for a year or so  and then immediatly adopting or the sweet kiddo(s) could go back to his parents. So please keep us in your prayers (the prayers of the righteous availth much!)as we know God's will, will be done.  Especially, pray for our children and their sweet little hearts. As we are open to more children please also pray we would be able to expand the size of the children's rooms. Pray to strengthen our hearts that we would gracefully accept his will no matter what it may be that our light would shine among men and He would be glorified in all of us. Thank you for joining us as we go joyful forward.

The article below was found on the website of Mr. Albert Mohler. I hope this helps some of you to understand one of my long held concerns as a member of an "endangered community". Many of you may not know Margret Sanger or be familiar with the eugenics movement (discussed below). It is the connection between eugenics and Planned Parenthood that leaves me concerned and outraged regarding over whelming black support of Planned Parenthood. I hope that this article helps to shape your view of Planned Parenthood as an organization and moves you toward supporting loving adoption (adopting, fostering, financially supporting adopting parents)of endangered children.

All Children are a blessing from God, they are our reward, every single one of them....

NewsNote: Black Children Are an Endangered Species?
Posted: Wednesday, March 03, 2010 at 6:48 am ET

Catherine Davis is a woman with a message, and that message is getting harder to ignore. "Black children are an endangered species."
The Director of Minority Outreach for Georgia Right to Life, Davis is taking that message to the public, along with a massive public awareness campaign that has captured national and international attention. Drivers in the metro Atlanta area are seeing billboards that demand attention -- and are changing minds.
Her argument is simple and the statistics are irrefutable. She accuses abortion providers in general, and Planned Parenthood in particular, of targeting blacks for abortion. She told The New York Times, "The impact of abortion has become so great that it has begun to impact our fertility rate."
Consider the chilling facts documented in the data. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 57.4% of the abortions performed in Georgia in 2006 were performed on African-American women, but blacks make up only 30% of Georgia's population. Nationwide, the pattern is similarly stacked against black babies -- black women have approximately 37% of all abortions each year, while blacks make up only 13% of the national population.
You can see why Catherine Davis' message demands attention. She points also to the fact that, in Georgia, every single abortion clinic is located in areas of black concentration. She argues, quite pointedly, that this amounts to an intentional effort to reduce the black population in the United States.
As she told the Los Angeles Times, "Let me put it this way . . . 18,870,000 black babies have been aborted since Roe v. Wade. If those babies had not been aborted, we would be 59 million strong -- over 19% of the population."
She is not only making the argument, however, she is reaching the African-American community with that argument.
As the Los Angeles Times reports, "An increasingly vocal segment of the antiabortion community has embraced the idea that black women are targeted for abortion in an effort to keep the black population down." Similarly, from The New York Times: "Abortion opponents say the number is so high because abortion clinics are deliberately located in black neighborhoods and prey upon black women. The evidence, they say, is everywhere: Planned Parenthood’s response to the anti-abortion ad that aired during the Super Bowl featured two black athletes, they note, and several women’s clinics offered free services — including abortions — to evacuees after Hurricane Katrina."
“The more I dug into it, the more vast I found that the network was,” Catherine Davis told the paper. "And I realized that African-American women just did not know the truth, they did not understand the truth about the abortion industry.”
She also has an argument from history. The founder of what became Planned Parenthood was Margaret Sanger, who no one can deny was a proponent of eugenics -- the effort to encourage the improvement of the human population by selective breeding. She advocated the forced sterilization of those deemed less fit to reproduce. As the Los Angeles Times noted, "That was often believed to include blacks." Planned Parenthood was also involved in a recent controversy when some Planned Parenthood employees were taped encouraging donations targeted toward the abortion of black babies.
Catherine Davis is not alone in making the argument, either. The Rev. Clenard Childress, Jr. of New Jersey has described the womb as the most dangerous place for a black child. Another black pastor, Rev. Johnny M. Hunter of Fayetteville, North Carolina said, "What's giving [this argument] momentum is blacks are finally figuring out what's going down. . . . The game changes when blacks get involved. And in the pro-life movement, a lot of the groups that have been ignored for years, they're now getting involved."
The case is also being made with force and candor by Alveda King, a niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr: "I know for sure that the black community is being targeted by abortionists for the purpose of ethnic cleansing . . . . How can the dream survive if we are willing to sacrifice the futures of our children?"
The scandal of abortion is not limited to abortion, as these facts and patterns make clear. Catherine Davis and her colleagues are making a difference with this message -- and mostly within the black community.
What about the rest of the nation? Is America content to be the land where every baby in the womb is endangered, and where black babies are at even greater risk? That question should haunt every single American.

Adoption Update

This is a just a quick and boring note to update folks on our progress in the adoption:

- Berkeley Transcripts ordered, Christian Brother's transcripts ordered, requested insurance information be sent to the agency from my insurance agent.

- Both parent surveys mailed with the emergency numbers

We still need to take our classes, have a fire inspection, finger prints...we are about 2/3's of the way through by the end of this week. Assuming we get everything notarized on Wednesday!
We are trying to complete all of our paperwork and our classes so we can be ready for a placement this summer. PLEASE keep us in your prayers that we are able to complete the tasks ahead of us, as God wills. We are praying for twins or a sibling group of 2 male children 2 & under, if God wills this.

Rejoice,

RH

Adoption Update

Well the packet is finally completed and sent in but I of course still have a few things to do:
  1. order birth certificates
  2. order diplomas
  3. get finger prints
  4. see a notary

I will try to do one thing a day this week so we can have this whole thing wrapped up. Right now we are trying to take the adoption classes so we will be eligible for placement. We are adopting through CPS so we have to take plenty of classes. They do not want the kids to be there so this may make the process even longer as we cannot afford babysitters for 5, 4 hour classes! We are so excited we have already started working on the boys room. So if you are getting rid of any Texas Memorabilia throw it my way to help us decorate and prepare for the arrival the brother.

Having sweet little Micah everyday has really got my baby juices running!

Adoption

Well, since Heather listed us on her blog as a family that is adopting I feel compelled to let the world know about it! In thinking about our blog I do not think I have ever addressed the subject of adoption though I have definite thoughts and opinions on the matter!
The Bible says in James 1:27 that the "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." So it is a Biblical mandate to actively care for widows & orphans. Additionally, since its in the Bible we know God is at work here and we can join in just like Jesus did!
Personally, Wayne and I are Pro-Life and we felt that adoption was a way to move from neutral to actively fighting for the lives of the unborn. Some of you know just before we found out we were pregnant with Parker (after trying for 5 years) we had decided to adopt through Jen's Mom's agency in Houston (Which is funny because we did not know Jenn at the time). But with the coming of Parker and then Pearson we've been in a holding pattern. Now, however, the Lord has made it clear that it is time to adopt. It appears however that we will be adopting through a local agency that provides rescue adoptions instead of with Jenn's Mom.
Right now we are still filling out paperwork but we are ready to take classes this summer. So hopefully as soon as our paperwork is done we will be open for an adopting our boy(s)...
