The littles and swimsuits

For a long time we have sought out more modest attire for our family. We went on a trip to Dallas to spend time at the Lake with our dear Kevin and we meet a wonderful and Godly family with 10 kiddos by the name the McClearns (sp?). Well, they used rashgaurds and swim pants for children which seemed wonderful to us.

"I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God" 1 Tim 2:9-10
One of the things we consider when picking a bathing suit for our children is would we put a 16 or 25 year old in it or would I personally wear it?  I would not wear a swim suit that showed my entire back (or a panel that opens to periodically reveal my back), my stomach (you do not want to see it anyway!) or that attracted extra attention to my  chest or behind with words or ruffles.  So many of the swim suits for little girls are just darling (like this 2 piece pink swim suit) but they are not modest and as Moms we tend to want our kiddos to look cute. For me how the littles dress has been an area for Wayne and I to die to our selfish desire to have folks say "Oh, they are so cute!"

As always the Lord calls us to something better and reminds us that we are ambassadors and the Salt of the earth...."You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men." Matthew 5:13

We want to be salty so we try to wear clothing that reflects our love of Christ not our love of this world, as most of the latest fashions will. So when folks make jokes about us and ask if we are Amish or Mennonite or what ever...I am encouraged to press on. Blessed to know that we can stand out in our manner of dress.

As you can see Sugar Pie does not have on rashgarud top she lost hers. But her swim suit is definitely McDaddy approved.

I was so excited that Acadamy had two racks of rash guards and board shorts for women. And they were really cute as well.

Both of my boys wear them as well!!
