More then fishing....

This month we attended an event called go fish and I realized that our Lord Jesus has provided us with another opportunity to draw closer to our Him and His plan for us.

Parker has wanted to learn how to fish for a while, so when I heard a local town was having a free fishing event with all the equipment provided we decided to attend.

They had a great time learning how to fish at the "Go Fish!" event.  The event had several stations set up so the kiddos could learn about the basic elements of fishing including: Marine safety, knot tying, kinds of fish & casting.  After the children completed the stations they began to fish in the Pond. Still unsure and unsteady they all joyfully went to bank and cast, hoping to catch an elusive fish.

Still the Lord had an additional blessing for us which is to direct us more toward Him and His plans for us. We also entered a contest and Bubba won the grand prize! A rod, reel & tackle! Note: When you have 5 entries to everyone elses 1-2 entries your odds of winning prize improve! Just an extra blessing of lots of kids! Through fishing the truths of the Gospel can be lived and explained in a microcosm. It's just something I hadn't considered with fishing before.

Now we need to purchase 4 more rods and reels so we can embark on our new journey as we zealously seek the face of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we seek to teach our children to be fishers of men for Christ through the real life experience of fishing.

"And Jesus walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men" Matthew 4:18-19
